Illinois Learning Standards
and Assessment Frameworks
As many of you know, the State Board of Education sets
certain standards that public schools are expected to meet. These standards,
called the Illinois Learning Standards, are the guidelines that teachers and
other school officials use to set student curriculum. When students are tested
with the ISAT in the spring (the Illinois Standards Achievement Test), students
are expected to be able to "meet" those state standards. In order to target
certain important areas, the State Board of Education has developed the
Assessment Frameworks. While all of the Illinois Learning Standards are
important, the Assessment Frameworks list those most essential skills that
students need to be able to complete. These are the basis for the ISAT. The
links below will lead you to the Assessment Frameworks in a checklist form.
Glendale teachers, while planning instruction, use these checklists as a guide.
