Here's A
Little About Me...
I love teaching!! I am in my 10th year teaching the
5th grade gifted class; the years spent in this position have been the greatest teaching years of my life. I have
had the opportunity to meet and work with many
phenomenal students!
As far as my own education goes, it
is never-ending! I have my Masters Degree plus
an additional
36 (and counting) hours of
graduate credit beyond my masters. My two favorite classes were
Space Camp for Teachers in Huntsville, Alabama. There we
got to experience real flight simulations and participate in some
outstanding projects which I now incorporate into my classroom.
The other class, Science at Sea, was a cruise to 3 Alaskan
and 1 Canadian port just this summer. Eighty-eight
teachers went along with Science guru Steve Spangler and an Alaskan
naturalist and learned much about the environment, animal life,
culture, and geography of Alaska. I am looking forward
to sharing some of this with my students. Finally, I am one of just a handful of teachers in our county who have achieved National Board Certification,
a great honor for me.
I have 3 adult children.
My oldest son, Chris, works for the University of Northern Colorado
in Greeley, and his wife, Janelle, is a school psychologist in
Windsor. They
have a 2 year old daughter, Sophie. Needless to say, I
make
many trips to Colorado! My daughter, Kaiti, does graphic design for a company
in Loveland, Colorado. My youngest son Cory just
graduated from Greenville College last year with a major in Biology and
is currently working in the Trauma Center at OSF. He has also
just started on his 2nd bachelor's degree in nursing. My husband,
Paul, is an engineer at Caterpillar and co-coaches (with me) the
Lego League team we have here at Bolin.
I am proud to be part of the District 86
staff
where we take great pride in providing
multiple pathways for learning and leadership!
