Library Lines
Our theme in the
library for April is One World, Many Stories. We will
be sharing some stories from other cultures and
countries as we explore genres. We will be reading books
about songs, teeth and famous people. First and second grade
students will work on Table of Contents and Index lessons.
Our Wilson
library will be the first school to be inventoried this
year. Our last week for students to check out books will be
April 16-20th.
We will work
around the MAP testing to have students continuing to come
to the library for stories until the inventory, May 7 & 8th.
Our computer lab will be available for usage until the end
of the school year.
Please
help your student to remember to return their books on their
library day. Check your students’ classroom newsletter and
my web page for the current schedule. This will ensure that
they are able to check out in the last few weeks. We have
many new books to enjoy before the school year ends!
Remember that
all the minutes you read with your child count toward our
school reading program, READING ROCKS!
What is the
“Famous People” Program?
Each month
students will learn about a famous person during library
time. A brief introduction about the person and their
important accomplishments will be a part of our literacy
awareness. A large poster of the person will be on display
in the library. Famous People may include Artists, Writers,
Presidents, Inventors, Explorers, etc.
Each school
newsletter will contain an article about the Famous Person
for that month. Family members can reinforce and share
information with our students. Please work with us to expand
your students’ knowledge about Famous People.
We hope that the
connection to living and historical role models will spark
interest in the current events of the world and
biography/autobiography reading. The Famous Person is also
an example of our Wise Wilson Word. In March, our Famous Person is
Helen Keller.
