Fiction vs. Nonfiction Home
This learning object is designed to give elementary students the opportunity to explore the differences between fiction and nonfiction material. It consists of a "Start" section with information about and examples of fiction and nonfiction, an "Explore" section with online activities for students and a "Finish" section where students examine fiction and nonfiction examples, post their thoughts and opinions, then read what others have written.
A note to educators:
This learning object addresses Illinois Learning Standard 2.A.1b Classify literary works as fiction or
nonfiction. I have found it a concept difficult for many students to grasp and retain. As well, most students are exposed to far too little nonfiction material. Because of that, I created this learning object as well as a combination rationale and suggested classroom activities to further teach the concept outside the use of this LO. I hope you find them useful!
Enjoy!
