Emphasis Summer 08: Reading and Math

*       K-2 emphasis: Reading and math, however you will especially need Math Blaster and Math Tek types of online activities as you are losing that software in your labs.

*       6-8 emphasis: You will be working on “your” area including Science and Social Studies, but you may be asked to do some helping out with Reading (as you all teach it and it is an emphasis this year).

*       Special Ed: You are not limited to Reading and Math.  Mr. Ingold and Mr. Nagel indicated they would like sites for parents as well as helpful sites for student use at school and at home.

*       If we get enough links, towards the end of the Googling sessions we may look at United Streaming downloads (for those who have it).

Cybrarian “Teams”:

*       K-2: Robyn Wernowsky & Laura Hall

*       3-5: Marti Bierdeman & Janet Thomas

*       6-8: Erika Dearing (Soc St), Lisa Eugea (Math), Deb Teige (Science) & Kristen D’Alfonso (LA)

*       Special Ed: Jennifer McCarty & Leslie Rosa

*       Administrative: Pam Olivito & Shanna Gerth

Process:

  1. Before summer, as a team (see Cybrarian “Teams” above):
    1. Gather links currently in use from staff (all staff, all buildings at your level: K-2, 3-5, 6-8, Special Ed).  If they are currently on our web links pages, please do not gather/submit them.
    2. Gather information on curriculum and units at the grade levels and buildings you will be supporting as well as titles of reading novels used.  We will be searching for web sites that specifically support our current curriculum.
  2. During June Cybrarian work sessions:
    1. Shanna and I will spend a little time presenting searching skills, evaluating web sites, search topic priorities and use of the site submittal form.
    2. First you will organize and submit links received from staff members before the summer sessions.
    3. Next you will gather new links tied to current curriculum.
    4. We ask that you please use the submittal form to submit links.  Email them as an attachment to Pam Olivito.  I have a new web links site similar to Morton’s that we will be using.
