These links are compiled and maintained by district staff to provide the district, its families and the wider community easy access to educational web sites tied to our curriculum.  Our goal is technology integration into the curriculum, both in the classroom and at home, in order to raise student achievement, foster educational growth, encourage creativity, support higher order thinking stills and promote the development of problem solving skills.

Digital Learning Day - Wednesday February 1, 2012

Digital Learning Day throughout the United States is almost upon us.  It's not just a day to use technology, but a day to engage students and provide them with a rich, personalized educational experience, a day to encourage the innovative use of technology by trying something new and focusing on how digital tools can help improve student outcomes.

My challenge to you is to try something new on Digital Learning Day.  Use it to enhance and enrich a lesson that day.  While we all can't get into a lab that day, most all of us can include a whole group activity in our classrooms.  Then, if appropriate, take it into a lab and engage your students with it when you can schedule some time.  You'll be glad you did!

Below are some of my favorite web links.  Create a graph, use a virtual manipulative, create a wacky tale or a word pyramid, listen to a story read by a famous person or by a student, or research a topic with one of our subscription databases.  Pick one you haven't used and take it for a test drive!

Then, please take the time to add a comment about your experience using my Digital Learning Day blog post to do so!
