Reading

To meet the individual needs of the students in our classroom, we use a variety of programs and approaches to teach reading and meet IEP objectives. We also design instruction and activities to target specific IEP objectives. In addition, I feel it is important for students to be read aloud to and be given the opportunity to enjoy books on their own or with partners.

Mrs. Schuler, the other instructional special education teacher, and myself have gotten creative this year with reading groups. In order to meet our students’ needs, some of her students will be coming to our classroom for reading and some of our students may be going to her for reading. If your child will be leaving our classroom for reading, we will let you know! Listed below are the reading programs used. If you have questions about which program your student participates in, please let me know.
