Jump Rope for Heart
Tuesday, January 29th our school participated in Jump Rope for Heart during PE class. These events are held at schools nationwide and not only help students learn about the benefits of regular physical activity and heart health, but also raise funds to support vital heart and stroke research as well as educational programs.
The American Heart Association is dedicated to helping people live longer, healthier lives. The money we raise helps people in our community learn how to avoid heart disease and stroke and also helps our local patient care. Jump Rope for Heart enhances our physical education program and our goal to teach students about the importance of a healthy and active lifestyle. The event empowers children as they provide community service and discover that they can make a difference. At the same time, students enjoy being part of a team while jumping into the spirit of this fun-filled event.
The Glendale student raised $4,002 for the American Heart Association. There were 189 students who jumped and 80 who fundraised and enjoyed your donations to the cause. Teachers, students & parent volunteers had a great day as each grade level got to jump for an hour. We had a Memory and Survivor wall filled with hearts that the students filled in to remind us of people we know who have had heart disease or stroke. Student's that raised $50 joined the PE Club and got an extra PE. If they raised $100 they made the subway club and earned a free meal donated by subway.
