Mrs. Parlier's Best Last Class

The reason this is my Best Last Class is because I will be retiring at the end of this school year.  I started my teaching career in Creve Coeur in 1972.  After 1978, I stayed at home to raise my son Brock and his twin brother and sister, Ty and Tara.  This is my twenty-first year in District 86.  I am looking forward to my last year and it will indeed be a special year.

My first grade class has ten boys and ten girls.  We are into our regular schedule.  Our reading groups will be up an running by the middle of the month.  Grandparent's Day is always a great gathering and I have a super book I share about grandparents.

Please check your weekly calendar on the return side of your child's folder.  Keep reading for your monthly minutes.  Reading is the key to your child's academic success.  We have a new reading series and I am so excited to have it to share with your children.

Field Trip Excitement!

We went to Tanner's Orchard on September 28th.  What a great way to see the harvest.  Check in October for pictures of our outside adventure.

On our bulletin board in the hall we have a builder and little ones in hard hats.  We are under construction. My job is to build up first graders.  They will grow in all academic areas.  Wait until May, and you will see the finished project.

These are the class expectations we decided on as a class.

  1. Do your best

  2. Be a good listener

  3. Follow directions the first time

  4. Raise your hand before you speak

  5. Keep hands, feet, objects and unkind words to yourself

  6. Complete class work on time and return homework when due.
